A study plan you can explain.
A school choice you can stand behind.
Official FLA information, arranged in the order a family consultation usually follows.
Help families understand the value of studying at FLA.
Families are choosing an environment for growth, not only an admission destination. FLA combines Japanese language study with contact with companies, community activities and student-led projects. Use the official education pages and cohort records to explain how this environment fits each student’s goals.
For an initial April 2027 enquiry, tell us your institution’s name, country and contact person, the approximate number of prospective students, their Japanese study background and the questions their families want answered. An estimate is enough; personal student documents are not needed for this initial discussion.
Please also tell us where you would like coordination: interviews, application preparation, life after arrival or future study. We can discuss responsibilities and information handling so that cooperation supports the student’s independence.
Family consultation
Use this sequence in your next meeting.
Start with the student's goals
Ask why they want to learn Japanese and what they hope to do next. Begin from their own words.
Explain learning and progression at FLAReview costs and daily life with the family
Check the official fees and the period they cover, living-cost planning, accommodation and who to contact for help.
Open the family discussion guideSeparate what is confirmed from what is not
Japanese study history, goals, intended intake and the funding plan. Unclear points should become questions, not promises.
Agree the next steps with FLA
Clarify responsibilities, candidate review and document handling. Please do not promise admission or residence status before the relevant decisions are made.

What we look for
Preparation and understanding, confirmed together.
A genuine willingness to study, an understanding of life and rules in Japan, and readiness to learn alongside others. Nationality is not a substitute for assessing suitability: we look at the individual's purpose, their preparation for study and daily life, and the family's understanding.
A funding plan should not depend on covering tuition and living costs through part-time work in Japan.

Initial enquiry
An overview is enough to start.
In the official form, please include your institution's name, country and contact person, along with your topic: family explanations, student preparation or admission requirements. For a first enquiry, send an overview rather than passports or financial documents.
Where a student already has an introducing institution, we will coordinate with that institution.
See our Privacy Policy for how we handle the information you send.
